On February 11, 2025, we invite you to participate in a webinar on the situation in Belarus, Myanmar and Hong Kong. At the event, three trade union activists living in exile will share their personal experiences of struggle and how the trade union movements in their regions are resisting oppression by authoritarian regimes.
In today's world, trade union movements face fierce challenges from authoritarian regimes. In many countries, trade unionists are imprisoned or forced to flee their home countries, workers' rights are grossly violated and the existence of democratic trade unions is threatened. But despite the repression, workers continue to fight for their rights and find new ways to resist.
The webinar will look not only at specific cases of trade union struggles in the face of severe repression, but also at the prospects for international support. Experts will explain how global solidarity contributes to the defense of workers' rights and what mechanisms can be used to put pressure on authoritarian governments.
