Activist of Belarusian Independent Trade Union (BNP) Maksim Senik celebrates his 45th birthday behind prison bars.
We remind you that the trade union activist was charged under several articles of the Criminal Code: 368 p. 1 – Insulting the President of the Republic of Belarus; 361 p.4 p.m. 2 – Assistance to extremist activity; 361 part 4 p.a. 1 – Facilitation of extremist activity.
On 12 June judge of the Grodna Regional Court Mikalai Rachynski sentenced Maksim to 4 years of increased security prison. It is known that Maksim is going to appeal the verdict.
At the moment there are more than four dozen trade union leaders and activists of democratic trade unions in prisons and colonies, while the activity of independent trade unions is prohibited in the country.
