According to Brest newspaper "Viasna," Zinaida Mikhniuk, a 62-year-old trade union leader of the democratic Trade Union of Radioelectronic Industry (REP), was released. She served two years in prison for "insulting Lukashenko.
We remind that on the Day of Will in Brest, law enforcers broke into the house of the independent trade union activist through the window, searched her and then detained her. Later Zinaida was accused of insulting Lukashenka under Article 368, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code and sentenced to 2 years in prison on May 18, 2022. She was charged on the basis of wiretap materials of a conversation she had as an activist of the REP trade union.
Zinaida served her sentence in Gomel women's colony No. 4. Yesterday, January 29, 2024, she was released after serving her entire sentence.
