The future of Belarusian healthcare discussed in Vilnius

On 25–26 September, Vilnius hosted the conference Medicine and Healthcare of the Future: From Current Problems to a New Model. The main organisers included the Salidarnast Association and the Belarusian Congress of Democratic Trade Unions (BKDP). The independent medical workers’ trade union Panacea, the Medical Solidarity Foundation Bymedsol, the White Coats media project and Doctors for Truth and Justice also took part in organising the event.

Belarusian Interior Minister’s statement may signal a new wave of pressure on workers

Belarusian Interior Minister Ivan Kubrakou has said that workplaces should become one of the priority areas for the security forces’ “preventive” work. He made the statement on 23 September during Interior Ministry command-and-staff exercises in the Homiel region.

A member of the German Bundestag Helge Limburg, who has taken on a symbolic partnership with a Belarusian political prisoner and trade union activist Andrei Paheryla, has once again sent him a letter. In it, the MP wished Andrei a happy birthday and reminded him that he has not been forgotten in Germany.
